I'm new -- impressed and intrigued by the great reviews of Wishcraft -- and looking to find out if there is a significant variance between the different editions before I buy a copy at my local used bookstore. Also wondering what related recordings are available and if they cover different material than the book. Thanks!

And I only have one question (at the moment) - how quickly can I get answers to my questions asked in this forum? The silence frightens.

New User here. It seems these boards are not used much now. Any way, can anyone tell me how to sign up for the next book club? I can't find any reference to it on the website.

Thank you squarepeg.

I actually have joined here before, and posted in this thread before, both of which I forgot until I went to ask the same question I had all those years ago, and searched to make sure no one else had asked it, and found that I had asked it, under a different username. :bash:

This place is looking kind of quiet nowadays. Especially the scanner forum.

Are we the only ones here? *echos through cavernous empty forum halls* are we the only ones here? are we the only ones here? are we the only ones here? are we the only ones here?

Nope. You've found a couple of folks on the daily stepping forum.

The general lack of engagement sometimes happens when a founder retires. How are the rest of us going to step up?

The answers are in our mirrors,

I never really retired. It's just that I stopped getting notifications -- or there were very few discussions going on to be notified about.

Also, I open a bunch of Facebook groups - mostly for Scanners, though I started one I like very much called "The Resistance Whisperer" and during the years I did coaching classes, Facebook groups turned out to be very useful for the classes.

But I've been part of the Facebook discussions for some time now and they lack the continuity we have here. I like this bulletin board very much!

So, I now seem to be getting notified when you leave a comment or reply to one, and that's always what brings me back. Head in and get some conversations going. If I'm notified, I always come over and talk, and I'd really love to do that!

My 'retirement' is actually for doing trainings and live workshops, but not for anything we can do at the keyboard. Unlike some, I love to write and read what you've written.

Let's see if we can bring this bulletin board to life again!

Oh, yay, Barbara!

I love the Boards, and if there's anything I can do to attract people, I'll do it.

Hello
My name is Semyon, and i am from Russia
Really appreciate your work and your so noble attitude towards people and their dreams. I think, our country misses people like you.

In recent years, few of your books were translated in Russia and published by a fairly decent amount of copies. This is how i was hooked - i was in a book store, and, as usuall, I DIDN'T KNEW, WHICH BOOK TO CHOOSE, because, as always, too many interested me at the same time. And then i saw a book with a title "Refuse to choose", looked at couple of pages, and it was... wow.
It didn't help me to figure out all my life structure, because i'm so all over the place that even instruction manual didn't help - i simply don't follow) But, nevertheless, it helped in many ways. Now i'm organizing idea partys in Moscow - one is already passed, and was quiet succesful. Hopefully, more are coming. People need this kind of thing.

Thank you so much for your work

Hi, Semyon,

I'm glad your idea party was successful. Yes, Barbara Sher books are wonderful.

Yes indeed, how wonderful that you are going to run Idea Parties too, Semyon! I'm so glad you found my work and so pleased that you find it helpful. I think you'll help a lot of people. And that always feels wonderful!

How's it going, zen_gun? Hope you had a nice holiday season and ran some more Idea Parties. I love hearing the details of what happens at Idea Parties. I wish I had written down or recorded more of the wonderful Ideas that people came up with in Idea Parties! We are problem-solving animals and most of us love coming up with solutions. Just remember to always state TWO things: First, what is your wish? Second, what is your obstacle?

And when someone comes up with a solution that doesn't seem like it will work, there's another really excellent thing to do: First, find and tell the group *something* about the solution that is actually useful, so matter how far-fetched it may seem. That let's them know more about you. Then address the problem part by saying, 'What do we do about the problem part?'

Do you all know my favorite Idea Party story about trying to get publicity for my new business, many years ago when I had absolutely no budget? I wanted to give the audience an example of how to do this The first suggestion was to rent a plane with a tail flying behind it on which was the name of my new business. Then, exactly at 5:15pm when everyone was leaving work, it was suggested that I jump out of the plane with no parachute, naked, with my hair on fire.

I gave the proper response: "I like the idea of attracting all that attention. What would I do about the problem of my death?" (The solution was to do something else that attracted attention, and to first contact all the news media to come see it.)

And that's what I did for years and years: I attracted attention in various ways - like going on radio and TV or giving speeches - and I contacted all the news media to cover it. It took a while, but it worked. :-)
