Your privacy

Both Facebook and Google have changed their privacy terms and can use your recommendations, posts and pictures in ads without your consent.

Not sure what you can do about Facebook (other than discontinue your account but even then, they own all the pictures/posts you ever posted).

Here is how to opt out of Google using your info:

Thanks. If it's only the "plus" part of Google, it's not too worrisome to me. And I use FB rarely.

I believe you can opt out by not opting in on Facebook. When I looked at my security settings, there was one for that. I just had to make sure the box was unchecked. If you're on Facebook and want to keep up with security issues, spamming, and hoaxes, check on the Facecrooks page on Facebook. And Facebook doesn't own your pictures; you do. See their TOS.
