Looking for novels in the form of letters between two people

Have there been any novels presented in the form of written correspondence between two people?

Bestsellers would be of particular interest, but any others would be of interest as well.

Just to be clear - one where the entire story and characters develop solely through the chronological presentation of alternating letters/emails/telegraphs between two people.

Thanks!
Jason

The John Adams book comes to mind.

Check out "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society". I began reading that a year ago as it was awarded by a local library as the book of the year. The entire book consists of letters, but I never finished reading it so I don't know if it was entirely between two people.

Thanks for the replies!

The "Guernsy" book seems to be more likely to match-up to what I'm envisioning. Have a request in for it for at the library.

It's good to know there's the John Adams book, but I suppose the historical nature of that one really puts it in a different genre than what I was planning.

Thanks again!

I'm not coming up with titles that meet your exact requirements right now, but I wanted to point out that this kind of novel would be a form of epistolary novel. The reason I point that out is that you might be able to find examples by searching for other epistolary novels (novels told through letters, journal entries, emails, etc) and then narrowing down to the ones that are letters between two people. The Wikipedia page on the epistolary novel has some examples of them. Like I said, not all are going to be as specific as letters between two people, but it's a place to start searching.

Do the Griffin and Sabine books count as novels? They’re fiction, anyway. And more arty than plotty (? I haven’t read them, but they were big with my friends nearly 20 years ago).

Thanks for the additional leads and search terminology. I'm going hop on them and see what meshes. Thanks again!
