New online support group

Postby meganfay » Tue Apr 01, 2008 8:53 pm

Hi All, I am thinking that it would be great to get a handful of people together to work as an online support group/success team. I recognize that this particular board is a bit sleepy, but thought I would give it a try anyhow. Megan-Fay

Hi Meganfay, I just thought today that it would be great to have an online success team. I know that your post is already two weeks old, are you still interested in having such a team? I like to use the internet and all the modern media, so I would love to have such a team online. We could meet whenever necessary and we wouldn't have to obey to a special date or time... What do you think? However, is there anyone else out there interested in joining such an online success team? I would be happy to recieve answers... Best wishes Dangerous Angel

Hi, Count me as definitely curious. Not sure what it involves, but I'll take all the support I can get, and I always find it easier helping others solve their problems than I do solving my own. James

Hello Meganfay, Cheesecurry and Lynx, it's great that we now have found four people, I think that's enough to start. Meganfay, are you still here in the forum? How could we stay in contact with each other, do you all use e.g. Skype, or MSN, Yahoo, or ICQ? I do use all of those sometimes, but I definitely prefer Skype to the others... Let me know which messenger you like, however we need to agree to one of them. Best wishes Dangerous Angel

Hi All, What a treat to check in to the site and to find some interest (at last!) in an online support group. Thanks, Dangerous Angel, for starting the ball rolling. I am definitely still interested and would love for us to start talking and figuring out what everyone might need from a group. I use MSN, but don't mind signing up for another messenger as long as it is free. The other thing we could do is set up a forum or blog on say live journal, and then keep in contact that way. Then we could chat when we needed extra support but only post when we wanted to share something with the group. Megan-Fay

Hello all, I am happy when things start developing... In my opinion, the idea about the blog is great. Does anybody have the opportunity to arrange something like this for us? Megan-fay, if you like we can use MSN. Since I am new in this forum, I don't know yet how to send a personal message - I don't like to post my MSN name here... let me try... Dangerous Angel

Hi fellow groupies. :) MSN is fine with me for chatting, and I'll PM you all my hotmail address. In order to be able to keep in touch as a group, how does something like google groups sound? You can make it private (only we can see it) and you just send an email to one address and it gets forwarded to everyone. I'll set it up if everyone's happy with the idea. James

Hey Cheesecurry et al, I just checked out google groups and it looks perfect. So, Cheesecurry, go forth and produce one :), that's great. I've now got Cheesecurry and Dangerous Angel on my MSN, so Lynx, I'd love to have you there as well if you get a chance. This is very exciting, but also strange, we don't know anything about eachother, but here we are wanting to help eachother do and be all we want. I look forward to getting to know you all, and any others that may wish to join our group. With your approval, I will leave an open topic on the board letting people kniw that if they are interested that they can get in touch with us. Talk to you guys soon, Megan-Fay

The group is live, and I've invited Megan and DA through your MSN addresses. You should get an email with all the details. James

As far as I see it, sure, that's great! Cheesecurry has just put together a google group, so you may want to send him your email address and we can get this puppy on the go. Glad you want to join!

google groups

Postby Lynx » Fri Apr 25, 2008 9:55 pm

Hello Online Supporters, I'm open to the google group, I'll PM cheesecurry and meganfly with which email to use for the invitations. I don't have MSN nor do I necessarily want another email address. This may cut me out eventually, bu that's the way consequences work. You just support on without me ... <cough, cough> tell em, just tell em . . . it's all right with Lynx (dies, The End). I'm already heavily using 150 steps, but it's not for "support" as such. More like accountability. So this would be great for more emotional, troubling, and, of course, jubilant expression. If you have the chance check out phinished.org for a great online support community (of course B. Sher's forum is one of the greats as well). I thought I had the check box checked to get updates to this thread. Apparently not. I'll poke and see what I have to do. Lynx

Hi all, I've put us all on the group and asked a couple of questions to get us started. If anyone doesn't get the email, let me know here (or PM me) and we'll sort it out. Since we're just making this up as we go along, feel free to ignore my suggested questions and/or add some of your own! See you around, James
