I want to make the world vegan

Wish: To stop animal cruelty and suffering, by making the world vegan.

Obstacle: I have no social skills and I stutter, so my only option would be to educate people online, but I don't know how.

Reasons to become vegan:
Animal Agriculture’s Impact on climate and environment.
Impact on world hunger.
Animal suffering from meat, dairy and egg industries.
Beneficial for our health.

I don't wish to debate, only seek advice for my goal, thanks for reading.

Scorpy, it is so much easier to encourage someone to go vegan after you've got them eating tasty vegan dishes, and there are many, many more people searching for recipes than for websites or videos trying to convince them to change their beliefs.

Cooking blogs are some of the easiest to start and they quickly reach a lot of readers. Just keep posting recipes, like my friend Mary did until she died. She would spend a Saturday cooking meals and photographing them. She would taste each one to decide whether to publish it and eat the meals for dinner over the following week. In between, she collected ideas for new recipes. Her Meatless Mediterranean recipes blog is still here:

You can start a blog for free at (run by Google) or (run by Automattic). If you do it, I hope you will share the URL here.

Nothing to add. I like Pattyn's idea of a vegan recipe blog.

I'm sorry that your friend Mary died, her meals look delicious. I see she was very dedicated.

I have been thinking about cooking in the future, since I'm vegan, it'll be a very useful skill to have not only for myself, but to also inspire others. Unfortunately I can't do it right now, my options are limited. I'm very interested in this idea though, and it's something I want to start doing in the near future. If I do and also create a blog, I'll post it here as an update.

Unfortunately it will take a long time for a big change like that to happen, but I know that it's already in motion. The government won't care much about it, but injustice doesn't live forever.

Slowly, more people are becoming aware, and the demand for food containing no animal products rises. Probably people won't stop buying animal products any time soon, I guess the only future solution would be to slowly start closing factory farms, but I think it would be possible, I have some faith in people.

I'll look to see if I can write for something there, or do something else if I can.

Thank you guys for commenting and being supportive, it means a lot!

Best of luck in your quest, Scorpy!

If you can't begin with recipes, consider a blog about where and how to buy vegan food. It's surprising just how many common foods and snacks are not vegan.

My daughter has been vegan for many years. I think it was the empathy for the suffering animals that motivated her. Vegan for her is not just diet, but includes choosing cruelty-free beauty products and clothing.

She and a few others were influenced way back in middle school (junior high school), so that might be the demographic to target.

We're also aware of a vegan book club in our area. If you start one at your local library, you might attract some interest. It's all just small steps, but at least it's something.

Good luck!

Dear Scorpy,

I was raised Vegan and I still am at 35. I believe in the importance of veganism in making our world a better and kinder place, as well as personal health benefits of being Vegan. I have eaten meat and dairy several times over the years. For example, I ate meat for the first time years ago when I was invited to have dinner with a wonderful family in Mexico. I felt it would be too rude to tell this sweet and sharing family that that I wouldn't eat their food. There have been several other times in my life where I've felt it necessary to have a more open minded perspective about food and personal choice.

As I see it, veganism is a choice and the best way to have an impact on other people is to be a good example of what it means to make that choice. There are a lot of people out there who can't or won't understand your perspective. A family that barely has enough money to eat may not have much choice about what they're eating. Veganism is weird and foreign to most people. In my experience vegans are often judgmental of others and chase people away from the idea with overpowering opinions and often elitist attitudes. If you can be a vegan who shares information and food in a kind and loving way, I think you can influence a lot of people.

It sounds like your aim is to improve the world and a big part of that is being non-judgmental, kind, generous, and loving to all people and all animals. As far as spreading the message of veganism be a good example! cook amazing food for people! My mom has converted a lot of people just by making delicious food, many people don't realize that vegan food can be so good and so satisfying.

Best of luck you!

I share your dream. After nearly 8 years of being vegan, I'm coming to realize it's a soon-to-be-realized possibility - for at least the western world. The best things I have found to do to spread the message is join your local Anonymous for the Voiceless chapter and attend their Cubes of Truth. You don't have to speak, you can just be someone holding your laptop showing videos if you like. The more people, the more attention the cubes draw so your presence is inevitably beneficial even without your voice. I've seen dozens of people decide to give veganism a try after a single 3 hour cube event, that's more than I've ever achieved influencing in my personal life. Also, to keep your spirits up, I strongly recommend watching the Vegan News channel on YouTube and if you're on Facebook joining the Vegan Good News group. Every day there are stories of progress towards a more ethical, compassionate world and you can feel confident change is not only coming, but it's happening now. Watching slavery dissolve must have felt realllllllyyyy sloooooowwwwww. Watching the quality of animal's lives come into consideration worldwide is also realllllyyyy slllooooowwww, but now is its time. Thank you for choosing this lifestyle and sharing the truth.

Congrats to all who are moving forward with veganism. I'm not there yet but at least I've been a life-long vegetarian.

Welcome radevors!

New users might not be allowed to post links, so here is a link to Anonymous for the Voiceless:

There's a chapter near my daughter. I wonder if she's involved in the group.
