Can you trust that your dad's wife is telling you the absolute truth about your brother's response? Sometimes people have motives and motivations to mess around with others lives that aren't apparent. Just something to think about. Could your brother be living with your dad and his wife and she's intercepting your brother's mail and creating his response herself?

I've discovered situations like this, not to say that's what's happening here.

Remember, 1 in 20 people are sociopaths, and most of us can't recognize them. I'm much better at recognizing them now.

Jason. Thank you for your concern. Yes, I do trust my step mom that she's telling the truth.

I think I was in shock when I received the letter about my brother. The shock is wearing off and the grief is kicking in. I've been crying all day.

I have been writing a letter in my mind to him, deciding to let him know why I was out of touch. The letter is coming together through the tears and I hope I can write it down in the next day or two.

Anyone that prays, please say a prayer for healing for both my brother and me. Thank you.

Prayers are on the way.

Just a comment - your brother may have the same procrastination problems, anxieties, fears, etc. that you overcame. You know how hard it is to connect after a long time.

Do find a creative outlet for your pain. Perhaps you could write a book about your story and say what you need to.

I got my letter to my brother written today. I'll get it in the mail soon. I thought it would be hard to write but it wasn't. I cried, but it didn't take me long to write.
