Forest Life. Take a walk through a forest and learn all about the birds, and the trees. http://w3.upm-kymmene.com/upm/forestlife/index.html#lang=0 You will need high speed internet. It will still take a minute or so to download but it is well worth it. Great for kids doing a report or just learning about the woods. WG

This website is for language learning. Not all of their classes are free, but a good portion of them are free. I use CoffeeBreak French on iTunes. http://radiolingua.com/ I use this website to keep track of every book I've read, what I like, what I'm reading now, what I want to read next. It's great! You can read reviews, post reviews, rate books and start discussion boards with other people. http://www.shelfari.com

I took many classes at Barnes & Noble University, including "How to Think Like Leonardo daVinci," based on the book with the same title. I was about to post a link to it. Fortunately I searched for it and found that it was taken down back in 2007. (Is it 2010 already?) Anyway, some folks who took that course (and re-took it several times) went on to form an interesting Yahoo Group called "The Purple Egg." That group is not open to the public, but it is still active. Anyway, I'll try to ramble on to a conclusion. The interesting link I can actually provide is to here: http://www.wikihow.com/Think-Like-Leonardo-Da-Vinci And this reminds me of the Instructables site: http://www.instructables.com/ BTW, this simple post took me about 40 minutes to create, from start to finish, as I was compelled to follow links and got draw into them. And I still want to let the members of TPE know about "Refuse to Choose" before I go to bed tonight!

OMG, I just found out that our public library offers free membership to UniversalClass. I am paralyzed looking at all the non-traditional courses that they offer. Wiccan. Herbs. New Age Studies. Paranormal Studies. Reiki Studies. And these are just subject categories. You can join only six at a time, and I can't decide! I need intervention!!!!! Heeeeelllllppppp!!! LOL

Oh SquarePeg, that did make me laugh a lot! Nurse! The screens! We need intervention.

I felt like that when I saw the Open Universities OpenLearn courses. Very specific and minority interest :D

Is Universal Class free? Is it American? I want free classes and live in England so it might rule me out.

Alas, Caitlin, UC is not free. If you can use Paypal to send them US currency, you might be able to use the site. I only just found out about it, so I should probably not endorse the site until I've used it a bit.

Strathmore is offering 3 free online classes in making art journals. The classes are 4 weeks each. The first one is over but you could probably still look at the videos and do the lessons. They are all self paced. http://www.strathmoreartiststudio.com/

Cloth Paper Sicssors is offering a free download of a craft book on mixed media art techniques. http://www.clothpaperscissors.com/
