Skannie, Are you planning to attend the Writer's Festival? If so, I'd love to hear about it. During this past year, I have made some wonderful friends in the States who are originally from Ireland. I am always so amazed by their boundless hospitality. I feel like I have known them for years. Beth L

Hi Beth I hope to be able to go to Listowel Writers' Week some time, but it doesn't look like it'll be this year. In fact in all my time in Ireland I never went to it either, because it always conflicted with other interests. But I've heard that it's a great festival, and I've enjoyed other excellent festivals in the same town. It's a really friendly place and is in a part of Ireland particularly noted for writers. Here's what one of them, John B.Keane, said about it: "Beautiful Listowel, serenaded night and day by the gentle waters of the River Feale. Listowel where it is easier to write than not to write, Where first love never dies, and the tall streets hide the loveliness, The heartbreak and the moods, great and small, Of all the gentle souls of a great and good community. Sweet, incomparable hometown that shaped and made me." and here are a couple of links with more information: http://www.listowel.ie/welcome.htm http://www.kerrywritersmuseum.com/index.html skannie

Skannie, Thanks for the great information. I've been to England, Scotland & Wales, but I've never made it to Ireland. I do plan to make it there some day, so this sounds like an area I'll have to put on my itinerary. Beth L
