Hi, new to this board.
Writing is intimidating to me, NaNoWriMo seems overwhelming, so I am journaling using 750words.com (started back when it was completely free, they (husband and wife) have to charge a small fee now). (There is also a similar free journal site called Penzu.com but it isn't accessible from my tablet (which I occasionally write on) so haven't tried it.) Anyway, the idea is three Morning Pages--"Private, unfiltered, spontaneous, daily"--750 words. It keeps your stats for you and there is a feature to track whatever category you want (mood, sleep, daily temp, etc.) that is pretty easy to use. The fee allows you to "schedule vacation" which preserves your streak when a computer is not easily accessible or you take a technology vacation.

It helps me clear my head especially if I'm in a foul mood, kind of like an online Gripe Session. It also brings up new ideas or actions to take (that I cut and paste to a separate list after I'm done).

So after falling off the wagon once after 30 days, my last streak is 38 days, and 21,337 words (which is hard to believe) which shows me that it adds up. One step at a time, even when I don't want to, once I start I can usually finish.

It is also a baby step to blogging which I am working toward--I've proven I can do this even on my reluctant, less-than-productive days.

welcome sanwoman7. I've been blogging for several years, anonymously. It would be neat to get detailed stats, such as words and words per day, not just number of posts. The only thing that holds me back from posting daily is time. I have loads of content in my head, or I could easily come up with more. I just cannot find the time to enter it. Anyway, keep up the great work!

BTW, I'm glad I chose to blog on Blogspot and not LiveJournal. The latter is now littered by a bunch Russian scripts.

Welcome sanwoman7. Nice to see you here, and thanks for sharing info about the resources you use. That is amazing how many words you wrote in a month's time. Keep up the good work!

Great! I surprised myself last week by writing two short poems. They just came out in response to reading someone else's poem. Also did a letter of recommendation for a laid-off co-worker and two very brief and basic book reviews.

All this in addition to my full time job and a few blog-worthy photographs.

Nice work Square Peg!

Hi Elaine, how are you doing?

I'm now in a critique group with two other women who write for children. I've wanted to be in a group like this for years, but didn't like the idea of posting an ad to find other members. My latest work is on a novel for pre-teens, and it's coming along very nicely with encouragement from my critique group friends. Write on everyone!

Hi, Kashtanka,
I'm glad you found a good support group. I hope you're all a good match for each other.

I'm working on my sequel, and I'm doing camp NaNoWriMo this month. At the moment I'm about 10,000 word behind. I'm also editing rather than writing.

Here's wishing happy writing vibes to us all!

Welcome aboard Southern Artist! What kinds of things do you write?

Hi Elaine, good to hear from you. I see you're as prolific as ever! Good luck on your Nano project and also your sequel!

Thank you for the welcome.

I write poetry. And I have 1/3 of a movie screen play written.
A few of my poems are published in anthologies of poetry books.

One poem in the books does not have the last line on it. lol.

I don't remember my poems and thought I had lost a very good one called "Ophelia". I found it the other day!! yay!

I found a man who is a writer/producer and now director of movies and he said he'd mentor me regarding the script. But when I sent him the 1/3 of the script, he said he'd look at it when it was finished.

Needless to say, I'm not going to send him the rest of it when it is finished.

My mother was an English teacher. I have studied literature my whole life and am still studying it. I'm 54.

So quite sure, should I sit down and do it, I could write a novel.

I much prefer script style writing though.
