ATTENTION: Bulletin Board closure

Post by BarbaraSher »

It has come time to close this bulletin board. It has been a place of fellowship, inspiration and launch pad for changing lives. I hope you each have had fun and gained the tools to design the life you deserve.

This board will close on May1, 2020. You have until then to print or copy any threads you'd like to keep for reference. A way to find threads would be to visit the Resources forum. You can also go to Google and type site:boards.barbarasher.com and then the search term.

Example: site:boards.barbarasher.com resistance

We will still be doing good work at:
https://barbarasclub.com/hangingout/

I invite you to join us.

Richard Bach

“Life isn't supposed to be an all or nothing battle between misery and bliss. Life isn't supposed to be a battle at all. And when it comes to happiness, well, sometimes life is just okay, sometimes it'comfortable, sometimes wonderful, sometimes boring, sometimes unpleasant. When your day's not perfect, it's not a failure or a terrible loss. It's just another day. ”

This has been an incredible place for me over many, many years. I've accomplished so much with the help, support, and love from so many people here.

Thank you, Barbara, for letting us have this special space for so long. Your work has inspired me for over 20 years now. Thank you for being you!

I discovered this board recently and just signed up and just found out it's going to be gone soon!!
of course!
But I'll keep an eye out for the hanging out opportunity and although Saturday really won't work for me, I'll try my best to call into the Telesummit at least for part of the time!

The Sher Boards have been wonderful, and you people have made them so, with a lot of help from our steadfast moderator, Tituba.

Thank you all!

Gratitude

Post by Lynx »

Thank you a million times. This online community has embraced me and I have embraced it. It's been my steady support through a great deal. When I first joined in 2006 I felt that my life that shattered into many pieces due to multiple sad events arriving in a short period of time.

I knew I needed support. While my in-person supports would need time to rebuild, I searched for online support. Looking over my bookshelf I spotted Wishcraft and did a search for Barbara. Very glad I did.

I'll be searching for more of the amazing contributions, quotes, and insights till the last hours.

Herman Hesse poem Stages helps me adjust to an impending change.
Stages by Herman Hesse wrote:As every flower fades and as all youth
Departs, so life at every stage,
So every virtue, so our grasp of truth,
Blooms in its day and may not last forever.
Since life may summon us at every age
Be ready, heart, for parting, new endeavor,
Be ready bravely and without remorse
To find new light that old ties cannot give.
In all beginnings dwells a magic force
For guarding us and helping us to live.
Serenely let us move to distant places
And let no sentiments of home detain us.

The Cosmic Spirit seeks not to restrain us
But lifts us stage by stage to wider spaces.
If we accept a home of our own making,
Familiar habit makes for indolence.
We must prepare for parting and leave-taking
Or else remain the slaves of permanence.
Even the hour of our death may send
Us speeding on to fresh and newer spaces,
And life may summon us to newer races.
So be it, heart: bid farewell without end.
Translated by Richard and Clara Winston,
in: The Glass Bead Game (Magister Ludi),p.444
New York: Henry Holt,1990

My chorus:
Be ready, heart, for parting, …

We must prepare for parting and leave-taking
Or else remain the slaves of permanence.
