Unity, yeah, it's hard for me to navigate this whole situation. It feels...vague. Yesterday I started cleaning kitchen stuff that I'd stored away (some is being donated), and wondered: Should I start packing? Or wait?

For now funds are low, so I don't even have enough money for a deposit (usually you have to have first + last month's rent). Some unexpected expenses came up recently with the car and dentist, and that put a dent in my bank account. If I have to, I'll find a place that rents on a weekly basis and start from there.

Next month is a bit confusing because of the takeover by the new company at my workplace--the actual date of the acquisition is not set in stone (it can happen any time in August, is what they're saying now). Even the managers don't know what days we'll get our paychecks next month. (We're switching from one payroll system to another.) AAUUGGHH!!!!!!!!!!

I feel like I'm treading water at the moment. Yay.

Mannix...wow. Yep, it's definitely the right time for an exit strategy. I'm amazed your sanity hasn't left you. (Or has it? )

Hey again Mannix:

Obviously, I've done my share of venting. That's what we're here for. :)

Hey Unique:

Hang in there with your work and move. It seems like everyone here on this board and the 150 steps board is dealing with something difficult at the moment.

Front garden - mowing
Back - mowing and pruning

Gather lavender
find books to sell
odd socks nighmares (I've got a ginormous sack of them)
update other lists

Hi Everyone!

Mannix and Unique Journalist - Sounds like your busy July to-do list will carry fast into Aug to-do list. Hopefully things will feel more settled for both of you in August. When work and home life become uncertain it certainly keep us on our toes. And on a positive note, it is the next step toward something better :D That's what I look forward to with the launching of my website. (Once my website designer and myself can agree what we like)

I really need to finish some odds and ends here at work before I leave. I hope everyone has a nice weekend :)

UJ, have you got any friends that might want to start afresh and share a new place with you? It must be an unsettling time for you with all that going on at work. Just when you got into gardening too!

My sister would like for me to live with her, but she lives almost an hour from me and work is 30 minutes in the opposite direction. Sigh. I don't know anyone else who'd want to start over...but I could keep my eyes and ears open.

Anyone have experience with craigslist? My landlord suggested looking through them for a place. Her daughter tried to find tenants there and basically ran into weirdos.

Right now I am just trying to Remember. To. Breathe. The car is making squealy noises when turning, and I just cannot afford another repair right now. CAN'T. And I do not want to ask my parents for money, so I'll just do yoga or something to keep the stress levels down til the money situation gets better. Maybe September or so. (I could ask my housemates what they think the noise might be--they work on their own vehicles.)

Bloody hallelujah. I FINALLY got a bunch of stuff crossed off my list this week. Whew!! 8)

I also made a list of all bills for August and September, cause I tend to get distracted during a move and forget stuff like that.

Today I donated my old printer and typewriter--all they've done the past couple of years is take up closet space. It was a relief to give them away.

Regular Stuff:
-- recycle ink cartridges--DONE
-- pay phone bill--DONE
-- pay car insurance--DONE
-- pay bank loan pymt.--DONE
-- pay Citibank bill--DONE
-- make cornbread using the stone-ground flour--DONE
-- vacuum--DONE
-- return library books--DONE

-- make starter dough for bread (not sure if I'll try this one or not)
-- start looking around for canning jars (might try Mom's no-boil recipe she found for pickling cucumbers)
-- 6-mth. checkup for laptop--need to get off Internet long enough to do that :)

Gardening Stuff
-- empty out debris from pots I found outside, and give them fresh potting soil--DONE
-- do some research on frugal composting techniques/methods--DONE
-- transplant eggplant seedling--DONE

-- hammer tiki torches into ground firmly...one of them's kinda tilted

Well done on your progress UJ, especially at a difficult time. Shame your sister lives further away.

Well no.1 on my list today was to report all the spam posts that appeared overnight.

Unity:

What made you think the 150 steps for August was spam or did you post a reply there in error?

The spammed posts appeared all over the site including the 150, but have now been deleted so you can only see my ones which probably appear strange without the offending ones before them.

Wow, Unity, looks like you've had your hands full with a spammer. They must really like you. LOL

Okay, so I need to get cracking on next month's task list. Hmm. Have a feeling it will need to be different from the usual list.

I talked to a coworker today and they said if I can't find a place by September 1st, I could move in with her and we could try being roommates, so that's an option. I'd still rather have my own space, but at least I have that option...and living with my sister. Or pitching a tent for a few days in my parents' backyard. (just kidding)

How'd it go Mango?
