Hmmm. This thread is sure lagging behind clutter and weight loss. I shopped for printer cartridges and found a fantastic deal on eBay. I sold a book on Amazon and transferred the money. I ordered a mouth guard so that I wouldn't crack any more molars from grinding my teeth. It's going to cost a small fortune to get them fixed. I e-mailed my dental benefits people to see if I can get reimbursed for the mouth guard. I refilled a prescription through an inconveniently located pharmacy that gives a 3-month supply for the price of 2 months. I looked at a direct mail vitamin website online (Puritan's Pride). I'm paying a fortune at Costco by having to purchase the giant bottles. I e-mailed my car insurance company to change back a payment due date that they had changed without telling me. I made a shopping list. Never shop without a list! I planned dinner for tomorrow. Never wait until the last minute to decide what to cook! I looked through the local 'penny-saver' type paper. Lots of info on estate sales and garage sales.

I have a new finincial goal...stop spending! I have been going overboard, already spending over $500 this month on personal items like clothing and supplies for my hobbies. Some good news today though..my husband's ex is getting married this summer and we will no longer have to support her. That will mean a nice deposit into either savings or investments each week. Hurray!

Great news, Kashtanka! I ordered the vitamins from the discount vitamin place. Got 2 for 1 and $0.22 shipping. I e-mailed Uncommon Goods about sending me the money the $4 they owe me by mail. I helped a friend sign up for Medicaid. I entered receipts and balanced the bank account. I printed and clipped coupons. I printed tax receipts to be filed. I came up with an idea to help my credit scores. And I'm off to update my financial spreadsheets. :D

Sent extra money to mutual fund; made contributions to my ROTH IRA accounts. Marked a few more items for sale - I hope that improves my financial life! :)

Cha, you do great with your investing. May I ask what you do for a living? I paid my bill at Blockbuster (long story) and used my free rental coupon. I bought summer pajamas from the sale rack at Walmart ($12.96 per pair). I shopped with a list and coupons. I consolidated all of my errands. I sold a book on Amazon. I thought about trading in my car for a hybrid. I made laundry detergent. I identified a few more things to sell. I sold my vacuum sealer.

One of those 2 steps back kind of days. I backed into my nephew's car (his pride and joy) and scraped the paint off two panels. Knocked the hell out of my bumper, but I don't care about that. :( Hello, Universe? I'd like a cheque please. :)

Forgot to tell you: nephew is moving upstairs to the bigger room and is going to start paying rent ($100 per month) and buying his own groceries! :D Plus, it is easy to get him to help in the yard, so free labor as needed!

Hi everyone, I can see that you have all been very very busy. mango - sorry to hear about your car. I've been doing some filing (at last) and sort of forgotten what else was to be done. I'm leaving the claim form until a (very) rainy day as I just can't face it. I've had frequent trips to the financial advice centre but in many ways wish I had gone elsewhere. The people mean well but there's always some sort of drama going on and I just don't need it. I suppose that I imagined I'd go in there with my list of questions and get the answers I need straight away. It doesn't happen like that. And now I need to make a decision whether to make an appt and have some long winded forms filled in by them. My gut is telling me not to as I'll probably get very frustrated. Tomorrow I might go elsewhere and just see if I get any different advice. I only went to that other place because I thought they were more specialised in the subject. Kathy, I've stopped buying anything in April and it's getting easier now. Because my financial situation has completely changed I am not going to buy anything complusively again (or at least I hope I don't) until I win some money or else meet someone rich :D

Urs, would it be rude to ask how your financial situation has changed? As for me, I went through the financial spreadsheets several times. When my husband gets back from his trip, I am going to tell him that he needs to find extra income to finance his trips to see his daughter, and to do the other things that he wants to do that aren't in our budget. I intend to put every cent that I can get my hands on toward our debts (first credit cards, then car, home loan, student loan, and 401(k) loan). I don't want these debts, I want to live on less money, I want to be frugal. All so that I can quit my job and work from home, and to hell with him if he doesn't support me. Wow, I'm on a tear today. I also went back to Craigslist looking for part-time employment opportunities. I found 8-9 that I sent queries to, and I'm waiting to hear back. :D

Hi mango I'll pm you re circumstances. You are sounding more determined than ever with your lifestyle choices. Sometimes it can take a very long time to discover what your patterns of thinking are telling you. I didn't go to the other financial centre. I'll leave it for a while as you can get information overload. Mouthguard - I used to use one that was see through and kept it in at other times not just for sleep. It didn't work for me and I still grind excessively hence TMJ problems.

Got the dental guard in the mail yesterday and tried it out last night. Not very sexy. :P But I didn't wake up with a headache, either. :D Must balance the account and start the new payments spreadsheet and pay bills today (got paid yesterday). Reminded my husband to track his receipts and stick to his budget while he is away. No more nonsense! Forwarded myself a few more Craiglist job ads to reply to. Didn't spend a cent yesterday except on groceries for dinner (a whopping $6). It's amazing how much cheaper it is to cook at home. I made four servings of tuscan bread soup (pretty hearty) and had leftover celery sticks, carrot sticks, Italian bread, and cabbage. I plan to find a new recipe to use up the cabbage. I usually toss leftover ingredients, but I am making a concerted effort not to be wasteful. I also packaged up leftover ground beef from a few days ago in 1 lb lots for the freezer, and snipped the rest of the chives that I used in a recipe and froze them in 1 tbsp portions. Taking a magazine that I get and don't read to work when I go back to give to someone else. And letting the subscription expire. :) I let my nephew watch the movie that I rented (so two views for the price of one). I will soon be the Goddess of Frugality. :D Trying to decide if using coupons is ever a better deal than just buying the store brand when it's on sale.

mango, I think there is something challenging and exciting about being frugal - for women especially. I don't know if men feel the same talking about it. When I had the money, I would rarely ever buy clothes as I had got so spoiled wearing free designer items (entire wardrobe including underwear) via a friend who got it from relatives. Now I prefer second hand shops for bargains although sometimes have to buy new but it's a struggle to hand over the cash :D Your leftovers from that soup - bubble and squeak comes to mind. You fry it all up add some chopped ham or meat if you want, if not just add some grated cheese. Glad your mouth guard worked. Perhaps you have a stronger version than mine.

Bubble and squeak? I want to eat that just because of the name! Yes, I think frugality is the MOST FUN EVER. My husband doesn't seem so enamored of it. I sent the queries for the job ads I found on Craigslist today.

Entered receipts, balanced the bank account, started new month's spreadsheet. Didn't get around to paying bills, but will do it tomorrow. :P

Must pay bills today. I also want to post on my blog, but I haven't posted since March 7th and I feel ridiculous. My first inclination is to delete the whole thing and start over, but there is some good information there. Must gird my loins (?) and get on with it, I guess. How are the rest of you doing? It's almost time for a new month!
