I have this printed and taped on my desk at work:
If a cluttered desk signs a cluttered mind, Of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?

I used to have this sign over my desk:

Mango, thanks for all your kind words! That is so cool that you were inviting a friend over for a beer tonight. Hope the plan worked out.

So, how many people here have clutter-free desks? Not I!

Well, I don't have a desk, so that leaves me out...

:D Accomplished my goal today! I cleaned out my side of the closet, the dresser drawers, and a huge pile of clothes that were in a chair awaiting judgement. Found some things that I had forgotten about, some things that I'd been looking for, and some that I had no idea where they came from. Gave away two boxes of clothes and two bags of shoes! (plastic grocery bags...really just a few pair)

Felt SO good to stand back and look at the closet. The hanging clothes were already in pretty good shape, and I realized that I had them hanging according to length (blouses, skirts, pants, and dresses), and within each group according to color. Hmmmm....well I have been called OCD before. (not a diagnosis mind you)

Coffee pot crisis has been dealt with, and today started off much more smoothly.

Tomorrow I take a break from chores and will probably start on the living room monday.

And even if your junk gets thrown out, it's still in a less obvious place ... in a land fill. Or not so less obvious when you smell it as you drive past.

Hi all,

I'm making slow but steady progress.

I'm still keeping up with the laundry, dishes, cat area, and general tidiness.
And cleaning day is scheduled for Friday, once again.

This is huge for me!

Besides those things, I do get some other small things done every now and then...

1. Bought a new furnace filter.
2. Bought 3 pillows to finish decorating the guest bedroom.
3. Found and washed my reusable shopping bags.
4. Gave away stuff that I had bought for ex-b/f to use.
5. Took out the trash and recyclables.

6. Unpacked non-perishable food and put it away.

Happy about-to-be February, everyone! :D

Hi all,

Oh, yes... 'Hoarders' ... ((shudder)) ...

I set up the inside recycling bin today, and finally started sorting my trash as I throw it away.
It's nice to get that going.

I also cleaned the cat area.

And I'm still keeping up with the everyday stuff. Yay! :D

Cleaning day has been moved to Sunday, as I work the next two days.

Good night, everyone.

Went through my computer stuff and threw out NIC & sound cards, DVD drives etc. Donated a box of other computer stuff (keyboards, speakers etc.). Donated a never used, king-size quilt to the homeless shelter.

Threw out all my makeup. Hadn't used it in a very long time.

Well done, Tituba!

I'm amazed at what starting to recycle again equates to in the amount of trash versus recyclables. I used to fill about 3 13-gallon trash bags per week. Now, I have one, plus an overflowing recycling bin.

Cool!

I'm also thinking about bringing in the washer and dryer that belong to the landlord (they're being stored in the storage shed), seeing if they work, and then selling mine and using his (as he intended when he rented out the house).

I also need to get to work on my HUGE pantry closet. It's full of boxes and stuff that hasn't been put away yet.
I'm going to need it soon for my grocery stockpile.

I've sorted through all of my existing files, made some new ones, and finished the filing. I'm finally caught up again for a bit.

I need to put away all of my tax papers today so that I can start a new tax file for this year.

And I still haven't put that new dresser together. I need to do that so that I can put away my socks and underwear!

Have a great day, everyone.

Hi all,

I spent a couple of hours on the pantry closet.
It's now empty and CLEAN! There's a lot of space in there.

I unpacked all of the boxes and put things away (if they already had a place to go), or on the counter to be put away tomorrow.
It looks like I have a lot of dishes and pots and pans to wash! By hand, as I don't have a dishwasher anymore.

Then I recycled all of the boxes and packing materials.

I put away the paper towels, light bulbs, cat treats, bag clips, matches, dish towels, pot holders, medications, and vitamins.

It was exciting to unpack all of that stuff. I have a lot more decorative and functional items than I remembered.
Of course, the last time I saw most of this stuff was in September!

I brought the fan, humidifier, and space heater into the guest bedroom/office.

I guess I will do a few more things from my list, as I still have some energy left over.
Either that, or I'll watch some episodes of Kim and Aggie!

Maybe both.

:D
