Wow -- an actual "challenge" on the Challenges forum. Such a radical idea, Tituba.

I just spent 10 minutes putting away stuff in my living room and then a few minutes more organizing some paper clutter. Also added some unfortunate Christmas gifts to the bags that will be going to Goodwill.

Looking forward to tomorrow's challenge!

Well, it took more than ten minutes, but I cleared out my "office/living area" from all the junk laying around on the floor. I put some of the "piles" in those clear plastic boxes I talked about earlier, and moved them to a "pending" area, where I plan on going through them and possibly weeding them out partially or completely. It's nice being about to look at them and see what's in them and give them the evil eye. :) Plus, it gets them away from being free-flowing piles and contains them in a rectangle.

I really didn't have any holiday junk to clear like he talked about, but I'll keep listening, maybe I'll hear some inspiration in one of them that'll make me think of my piles in a "disposable" way. Other than that, stuff usually has to simmer a little in my mind before I can decide what to do with them.

Granted, I'm down to very little in my house, all considered. So, it's not like I'm in crisis mode. I mean theoretically, I could get rid of everything almost and just keep my computer, clothes and living essentials, but I don't want to get carried away. I do have some room to put stuff, I don't live in the city with a 500 square foot apartment. And I do like sitting being surrounded by all my books at the moment (with room to spare on the shelves).

Glad to see you onboard with this ST. It will be interesting to see what the daily 10 min tasks will be. By keeping it at a manageable time limit, it should become a habit. A few years ago, I lived in a 960sq ft. apt. I moved to a 550sq ft. one in the country. The spare bedroom is used for storage and looks like a storage bin (floor to ceiling boxes). I've been thru them several times and gotten rid of alot. I could do better with moving clothing out.

I didn't have Xmas stuff, so I went through a pile of papers (ripped out magazine articles etc.) Onward to tomorrow's challenge.

January 2 - Sock drawer

Day 2: Sock It To Me! Here's today's ten minute challenge. Empty your sock drawer onto your bed. Immediately sort pairs together. Discard any single socks, any socks you no longer wear, any frayed or 'holey' socks. Arrange like colors/types together and put them back in drawer. Bid the others farewell! Send photos of progress and let me know how you did! #31Days2GetOrganized

I already did the sock thing some time ago. I even clip my pairs together! (always have).

Day 3 - January 3

Day 3: Keep Your Lid On! Today your task is to tackle all those disposable plastic storage containers that you have in cupboards and drawers in your kitchen. Get them all out onto the kitchen counter. Discard any that don't have matching lids, that the dishwasher has mangled or that are stained. My rule: no more than 15 plastic storage containers! Here's the deal: with takeout containers, margarine containers and coleslaw containers there's a constant inflow of these puppies into your home - the trick is to keep them under control. So ... take a deep breath, drag them out and take ten minutes to get it done!! Let me know how you do. #31Days2GetOrganized

It's already clean. I keep the fridge very clean and fresh (food not expired)! One of my obsessions is I HATE food left over unless it's fresh or in the trash. So, no left over pizzas in boxes on the coffee table for me!

Today's challenge was easy for me. I never keep margarine tubs or any other tubs, and I only have a few storage containers. So I looked in my cabinet and saw that things were in order. Yesterdays challenge, on the other hand, was hard for me! I had a lot more in my sock drawer besides socks, such as belts and scarves, etc. I don't have a separate drawer for just socks - mine is more of a catchall, and I had a lot of work to do.

ST, bravo on the clean refrigerator!
