weight has been holding steady at 149 and 150 for several days

I suppose if I do nothing differently, then I should not expect my weight to change, right?

So, it is now 8 weeks until the walk, and if I want to reach my goal I'd better step up the effort! :D

I still haven't lost weight, think the main reason is this resistance to get back to my daily excercises. i'm still walking anything between 2--4 miles daily but really need to do the other things I stopped back last Spring.

Hi all

I think a reason I have given up on my health goals recently is that I focus too far ahead, instead of short term.

This coming week - aim - at least 5 sessions of excercise eg stairs, yoga, keep fit, vigorous house cleaning PLUS usual walking

Think about food before I socialise - eg eating in advance, take food out or cash for meals

Hi all,

I'm about to start a new adventure!

(Yes, you can roll your eyes). :D

I have an appointment with my doctor in a week to do a fasting blood panel (cholesterol, lipids, triglycerides, other heart and cardiovascular stuff, and glucose) and a thyroid panel (I take medication for hypothyroidism, and I haven't had it checked in so long that I don't know if I still need to take it). Also checking height, weight, blood pressure, and resting heart rate, etc.

Then I'm going to start a 'reboot' (see http://www.rebootwithjoe.com). I'll be eating only fruits, vegetables, and fresh juice (from my juicer) for a week, then only fresh juice for 10 to 60 days (depending on what my doctor says), and then another week of fruits, vegetables, and fresh juice. Then I'll transition into a plant-based diet (see http://www.drfuhrman.com). I'll start exercising at the beginning. There's a nice gym and a pool here at my apartment complex.

So, that's my current project. I'll be giving up caffeine the first week. That won't be pretty. I limit caffeine now, as it increases my anxiety, but I'm so sensitive that even missing (or just delaying) that 1 cup of instant coffee a day gives me a migraine. I'll try to update every day, but I might be a raging lunatic for a while. Or horribly depressed and tired. I've tried giving up caffeine before (several times), and it wasn't pretty.

I hope you'll get a kick out of it, if nothing else. And who knows? I just might succeed!!! :D

I hope all are well. Thoughts are with the folks in Boston today.

today's weight: 148

I need to hit the re-set button too, Mango! You have some good goals and I'll definitely cheer you on!!! :D

I've been doing better overall, but still struggle with the sugar cravings from time to time. Reeeeaaaallllyyyy trying to make conscious choices, and sometimes the best I can do is consciously choose to eat some jelly beans. :P

My face is starting to clear up from it's major break-out, and I now know what happens when I eat birthday cake three times a day for a couple of days. Surprisingly, it didn't bother my digestion as much as it bothered my skin, my mood, and my joints. Not sure if it was the wheat, sugar, or chocolate, but I won't be testing it out to see which it is. It could be the combination of the three, and that is most likely the case.

It is just SO hard not to eat gummy bears at work!

Thanks, Graham!

It is just SO hard not to eat gummy bears at work!

That made me laugh out loud. I was going to compare it to some of the things that I could substitute from the TOD, but I don't think this is a good place for that kind of black humor.

Yes, I've discovered an interest in nutrition, too. We can cheer each other on!!!
I think we must be related on some branch of the ol' family tree.

:D

Edited to add:
Dr. Fuhrman's plant-based diet is mostly vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, and beans. So, I don't think I'll be eating a ton of grains either.

Hi all

Mango are you telling me you'll ONLY be juicing for several months after that initial vegan diet?

I used to be a vegan and it nearly ruined my health so be warned. I recall a very nasty medican procedure as a result.

Graham, at least you know the cake is the culprit instead of wondering why.

ST - you will get my pulse racing thinking about you in shorts :D

Monday -
pasta, veg, ham, salad, 2 small rolls, mayo, white tea, cornflakes with milk
OUT - black coffee
walk and lots excercise

Tuesday -
cornflakes with milk..... salad.......french bread, coleslaw, salad, potato salad, ham
OUT -- fish in batter, peas, chips, tartare......2 x halves cider
walk and lots excercise

And I miss reading your banter!!!

Thanks for the warning, Unity. I'm going to do it under my doctor's supervision.

It's all fruits and vegetables and juice for the 1st week, then just juice for the next 10 to 60 days, then fruits and vegetables and juice for another week, and THEN the plant-based diet (with plenty of non-meat and non-dairy based protein at that point).

Waiting on the next 'squidgy peas' experience, Unity. :D

Also, do you still lose food down behind the computer table?
(Can you tell how much I've missed you?)
