AUGUST 2012 FINANCE AND WORK wrote:Unbelievable, this was only about a year ago (I thought it was longer). But ...

$$$$$I PAID OFF MY HOUSE!!!!!!! NO MORE MORTGAGE!!!!!!!$$$$$

I still had a ways to go if I were to keep paying the lower payment, but I decided to take the risk and pull a chunk out of savings and pay it off! I just got back from the bank and wiring the money. Funny, I was paying the payments online all this time, but to pay it off, I couldn't do that.

Anyhow, I've been cutting back on any extra purchases since a few months ago, because now I have to build up my emergency fund again. It's not bad, but not as comfortable as I felt before. The good thing, if I ever needed the "emergency", I wouldn't have the mortgage to deal with any more (in other words it's better than using the money for a new car and then needing the emergency money).

Time to celebrate, but I haven't decided what to do yet (maybe just pop a champagne bottle).

Don't mind me, I just wanted to put this in the correct year, so in case I ever need to search back for it.
