Welcome! Living close to family is nice, especially if you really like them. ;)

Thank you Square Peg. Are you also writing daily? Still keeping your journals?

InspireSuccess, I will borrow your quote from Cameron, as I need it these days :). Looking forward to see what's at the other end of the leap.

Hi,

I just wanted to tell you that writing two pages each day is a very big challenge. I'm a writer, and for me one page per day is a lot of work. I can do two pages for a limited time - a month, but that's without editing anything. So if you can meet the challenge, hurray!
I'm writing, also, and I'd like to post here from time to time and encourage the rest of you, but I can't come close to two pages per day.

Thanks for asking. No I don't write daily, but when I do write I savor the experience, regardless of whether the writing is in the form of a Christmas letter, a fax to the insurance company or an e-mail to an engineering team about a new design. My main blog has degenerated into a weekly posting of weight.

I'm writing consistently, which is good. I nailed Weasel's dream. :D (No it's not in the "Searching for Kansas" post. It comes later.) I love writing about dreams. There's so much cool stuff you can do with dreams that come out corny with just narrative.
Happy writing to all of you.

And happy holidays!

Elaine,

I'm glad you're posting here. It will challenge and inspire me to move forward with my Progoff writing, which has been sitting on a shelf for years.

Dreams are amazing, aren't they? A different world, a different landscape, where people do unexpected things. I'm glad they help with your writing.

I'm having a lot of trouble right now. I'm probably averaging about five sentences a day, and they sentences are !@#$%! (that means awful, except that I'm thinking of another, not-so-nice word.)

This is a Barbara Sher trick. I'm writing as if I'm talking to someone until the ideas kick in.

Fortified with his favorite Scotch,

Okay, bye now.

Elaine, here's an example of Progoff dialogue in case you want to try it.

Dialogue between your Writer self (W) and your Writing Blocker self (WB):

W: Why the hell are you blocking me?

WB: Because I want to.

W: Why?

WB: Because I like giving you a hard time.

W: You're a jerk.

WB: And you're easy to push around!

W: Oh, yeah?

WB: yeah.

W: well watch this. I'm writing one sentence. Ha! So take that!

WB: Big deal. One sentence. That's pathetic.

W: Hey, it's better than none.

WB: I dare you to write TEN SENTENCES. Ha, ha! Bet you can't do it.

W: Can, too.

WB: Can not.

W: ..............................................

Ahh, yes, I remember that now!

I attended a free writer's workshop dozens of years ago with some members of our local writer's club. The Russian woman (who I mentioned in another thread) and I together attended a workshop on how to deal with writer's block. When we came out of the meeting together, she looked at me and said, "I never have writer's block. There's always something to write about." In her case, that was definitely the case.
