Your 4 routines sound like a challenging workout! Keep up the good work!

Your cycle machine has a tension adjustment? That means you can still do 10 minutes but it will be harder? That might be a good way to step it up but not have to do more time since you don't like it. Cycling is also good for aerobics which helps with weight loss, which I know you want to do.

I think you've got a good routine going. I support you in adding a little extra tension to the cycle machine and maybe increase time to 12 minutes. Baby steps, as Barbara Sher would say!

Hi,
Thanks for the encouragement. Every exer-cycle has tension and height adjustments so as to meet the needs of diff types of people. Here weather is so hot, sultry and exhausting. So no interest in doing anything more.

Hi,
June 5 Wednesday 7.50 p.m.
Today being a holiday I got extra time. Weather a little bit tolerable.
10 mins of regular set as additional.
12 mins of cycling with the last 2 mins increased resistance.
Tried long forgotten yoga poses like shoulder stand, plough , fish and yoga breathing.
Completed 3 out of 4 workouts.
:D . Thanks for your encouragement.

Hi,
What were the balancing poses you had been doing?
I have a suggestion that we should mention the names of exercises or yoga poses, so that when we are revisiting for assessment we would have a clear view of what we did. Second, it will be also useful for mutual motivation.

No start on the YMCA. Thanks for asking. I just solved a big computer problem today so tomorrow I'll face the YMCA challenge.

I don't always know the names of postures.
Balance postures:
stand on one leg with other leg in 1/2 lotus. balance on one leg. advanced position is to bend over and touch the floor in this position. I'm not advanced yet.
next one: knell down on knees then rock back so you're balancing on your feet. don't know how to explain that one.
other one. wrap one leg around the other ankle and balance.
another one. I think you and I talked about it but I can't remember the name. I wasn't able to put my hands above my head. it's putting the flat of your foot on your inner thigh (like a stork bird) and then raising hands above head with palms touching.
another one: stand on toes with both feet will arms straight out in front. balance. advanced is walking forward on toes.

If you know the names of these let me know.

June 5

30 minute walk

I'm so glad it stays light so long. I can procrastinate until 8:00 pm and still get my walk done!

Hi,
I have given the names of asanas as per my knowledge. I googled to check out, but there are some variations.
1. That standing on half lotus is a common penance posture, with the right hand holding the rosary above the head and left hand held in chinmudra near the heart. But I don't remember its name. Bending in that posture, I haven't heard of it. It seems highly challenging. If you are trying that, make sure that a soft bed is spread before you.

2. That is Vajrasana- Thunderbolt or Diamond [Vajra means both]. After settling on your knees, there are many variations to this asana. Kneeling and settling your butt on your inside of the feet. After that you can do forward full bend and backward full bend.

3. Tribangi position. This is not an asana, but a beauty pose that highlights 3 bends of the body.[Lord Krishna with his flute is this posture]. But if you are doing this with bended knees and twisted hands, then it is the Garudasana - Eagle pose.A really hard one.

4. Then we come to Vrikshasana - Tree pose. It is also called Bhagirathasana to honour the King Bhagiratha who did penance in this pose to bring the celestial river Ganga to the Earth.

5. Tadasana - It is called mountain pose in internet pages, but I learnt it as palm tree pose.

You are trying new poses and I'm proud of you. Keep it up.
