"The only time to eat diet food is while you're waiting for the steak to cook"

"The measure of achievement is not winning awards. It's doing something that you appreciate, something you believe is worthwhile. I think of my strawberry souffle. I did that at least twenty-eight times before I finally conquered it."

"If you are afraid of butter, just use cream."

What would she have done if she hadn't gone into cooking? "I would have married a Republican banker and become an alcoholic."

Watching the movie "Julie and Julia" inspired me to read "My Life in France" by Julia Child, coauthored by her nephew and mostly compiled from letters she sent home to friends. What a great life she led! A true Barbara Sher example of living the life you love, and going after your passions no matter what the obstacles. I highly recommend the book as an inspirational read.
