First Voice Teleclass + Mayo Clinic voice consultant?! etc

Hello Sherboarders - A lot has happened since I was last on the boards. In case you're wondering - yes, we did save the West Bank School of Music and it is now thriving again - with someone else as the Executive Director now (WHEW). Bonnie Raitt did come through, and we also got support from pianist Butch Thompson (Prairie Home Companion and Jazz Originals), baseball legend Tony Oliva (son of guitar instructor Ric Oliva) and Christine Clayburg (Sex & the City actress + Fox weather reporter). Thank you to everyone on the Sher boards who encouraged me and gave helpful suggestions! After 2 years of up to 80 hours / week, I took a long break from lots of things. Fast forward to now: VOICE TELECLASS - I recently created a voice teleclass for entrepreneurs - based on a request and inspired by a consultant for the Mayo Clinic! Express Yourself to Connect with Clients* Free Sample Voice Teleclass Tue, Oct 21st 7pm CST http://www.karenlyu.com From my research on the internet, it looks like my innovative interactive voice teleclass may be the very first of it's kind ever! There are only 2 other voice coaches that do teleseminars and both have only done one-time lectures. It will probably also be the first voice teleclass series with a guarantee. The complete teleclass and lesson series is set up to end before Thanksgiving. That way, my students can try out their new voices with their families over Thankgiving. I timed the free teleclass so that the Mayo Clinic staff may be able to try my free sample voice teleclass around the time of their initial meeting - where they will be reviewing 3 proposal ideas made by a highly-respected genius Mayo consultant to hire me as a voice instructor consultant for 3 potential sleep apnea projects! Final decisions apparently take several months, so we'll see... It turns out that voice lessons can cure sleep apnea (which can be fatal) and they want me because I have helped cure sleep apnea with my voice instruction. Hope you can sign up to participate - http://www.karenlyu.com (It will be fun and I will do various cartoon voices ) I have also combined my executive director experience, computer, design and other experiences to create: EcoTech Harmony Consulting and Design - marketing, technology, resources, eco-sustainability and design for creative, progressive entrepreneurs. Find out more and connect with me at http://www.linkedin.com/in/karenlyu I'm also on Facebook and I will post that link later. As for music, I am taking a hiatus from my Global Jazz band and I'm focusing on songwriting :) I have an amazing opportunity to record my songs with the pianist for Bryan White (who sang From This Moment On) - so I really have to work on my songs!! I'm in Nashville in a transitional time after a medical crisis - you never know what's going to happen in life - so wish me luck. All the best to all of you, Karen Lyu aka JazzMuse

Hi Sherboarders - It's been terrific teaching week with great moments like helping a guy sing Happy Birthday on pitch for the first time in his life, helping a performing student lower her voice to get close to a 4-octave range (one 1/2 step to go), teaching an interesting guy how to have one clear accent (he's lived in several countries) and helping a woman with a rare tonsil issues get a clear, resonant speaking tone for the first time ever :D With the holidays and Christmas carols coming up, I'm offering free sample phone voice lessons for anyone who would like to Transform your voice and Express your soul. Gift certificates are also available for anyone who would like to give that opportunity to someone you know for Christmas. http://www.getlessonsnow.com/profile.php?id=4279 http://www.musicpeeps.com/karenlyu (you can hear singing samples on this one) Karen aka jazzmuse karen at globaljazz.net
