Web Optimization Help

Postby Buttercup » Sat Nov 05, 2005 8:56 am

Hi All, I hate asking a question that I'm sure has been asked and answered before, but I did a search and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Have been so busy and stressed I guess my brain has melted. :) Need: 1) Advice, book and/or web resources that will help me to optimize my website on the search engines. 2) Advice on what web advertising channels seem to be most effective for the money. Banner ads? Ad words? Other? I don't expect all the answers here. What would really help is just some advice on where to look and who to trust. We are a new agency and our specialty is radio advertising. I need to promote our website as much as possible for as little as possible. Thanks! :D

1) Type "search engine optimization" into Google or YahooSearch and you'll come up with tons of free info. 2) Banner ads: when was the last time you clicked on one? I don't know what channels would work best, but I am pretty sure banner ads are pretty low on the list.

website optimization

Check this link and sign up. I'm subscribed and they have excellent advice, tools and resources to make your website the best it can be, no matter what your level of expertise is. http://www.sitepronews.com/ Ask your customers (or friends if you don't have customers yet) what words they would type in at google to find your services. Check out other sites of companies that do what you're doing. See what keywords they're using. When you know your keywords, start writing your copy, using the keywords as much as you can with it still looking good. You can even use keywords in your alt tags (text that describes an image). Make sure you do each page with appropriate keywords. For example, my CD page should have (I'm working on it) keywords like \"native music CDs, meditation music\" while my home page is optimized for \"Aboriginal drummer\" and \"inspirational aboriginal speaker\". I still need to implement these on my own site - just learned some of it recently. But I'm number one for \"Aboriginal drumming\", \"Aboriginal drumming CDs\" and \"Aboriginal drummer\" on google. Best wishes with this. I know Sitepro News will help. Peace, B.

Nice post! One thing that I know about banner ads are that it may not be that helpful but clearly comes in front of the world. I might invest some in this as well. Therefore, I am planning to opt for Adwords Marketing for the growth of my business.
