Post by SRJanssen »

Kick off 2015 writing two pages a day every day. Page is defined as 500 words. Page can be a blog post, a page in my new book, or even a letter.

Blogher has been fostering monthly blogging challenges like this for a long time, and they adopted NaBloPoMo after Eden Kennedy stopped promoting it. As well there's NaNoWriMo (November) .

I mention these because there are resources available for the participants that can also support this challenge.

My kind of challenge. I accept. Except that I get Sundays off, and 500 words per day is about my limit if I'm going to do this for the whole year.

I've done Nanowrimo, which is 1666 words per day for a month, and it's HARD!

Am writing something good enough to read to someone else. A step forward.

Camp Nanowrimo (National Novelist Writing Month) starts today. The challenge is 50,000 words in April. Or you can set a smaller goal if you want to.

Hi Elaine,

How do I count words? I have something that is similar to MicroSoft Word. It's called Libre Office.

I might want to join here and write about my artwork. I think if I were writing about it, it would motivate me to do it. I could also write about my music since I decided to put it on hold while I focus on art work.

Are you focused on writing your new novel? Sequel?

Hi, Inspire,

My computer automatically counts words for any document. Yes, I'm still hanging in there, I'll meet my NaNoWriMo challenge of 25,000 words in April (I'm up to 20,000 today.) But I haven't faithfully written 500 words each day. Not even on the days when nothing else was interfering with my writing.

You could also do a challenge of drawing/painting X minutes per day if that was more your love.

Anyway, good luck to you.

p.s. Some of my writing is really terrible. I'm not being modest. I really is that bad. The idea is that if you get into the habit of writing, after a while, the good stuff happens. So you write anything. Also, I edit my work A LOT.
