How old, is too old, to pursue your dreams?

Post by inspiresuccess »

There are some things that can't be done at a later age, like giving birth to a child at the age of 70, or going to medical school and becoming a practicing physician, at the age of 90. But many things can be achieved later in life. Here are some of them.

The famous artist, Grandma Moses (Anna Mary Robertson Moses) was 78, when she began her career as an artist.

Golda Meir was 71, when she became prime minister of Israel.

George Bernard Shaw was 94, when one of his plays was first produced.

Benjamin Franklin was 81, when he helped create the United States Constitution.

I'm 61 years old. So many examples of people starting things at an "older age" are people who started their work at the age of 40 or older. That gives people in their 40's, a 20-year edge over us folks who are 60 and older.

What I need is examples of people who started their work or achieved their dreams when they were OVER THE AGE OF 60! The only one on my list above who STARTED THEIR WORK over the age of 60, is Grandma Moses.

Please help me come up with more examples, because I feel discouraged because of my age.

Cool!

If you can figure out how to find it, that would be great. I'd appreciate it.

And I wouldn't be too sure about the parenthood issue, either: http://www.barcroft.tv/worlds-oldest-mo ... -two-india

Seriously, though, even at a conservative estimate you've got at least another twenty years in which to create a second or more career.

My mum will be 94 next month. She is still doing teacher aide work and shop work, as well as her own gardening. Don't let your numbers put you down at all.

Hi Tui,

Thanks for the encouragement and the links. I really appreciate it.

If anyone can track down the thread that SquarePeg mentioned, I'd be very grateful.

This one is before our time  but it may give you a lead.

I put in a bunch of keywords+sher in google and this is what I got: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=183

There was also a heap of stuff on the search page for starting over at 60+ so you're not digging a dry well here.
