The House is in even numbered years, but the House that takes office will only have a little over a year to have its way, (2017 and a few months going into 2018)

2018 is an election year and the opposition will be at the heels of anyone who didn't make it a go in 2017. The 2nd year of the House will be hard to get anything done if the first year was a disaster. Just look at how the Congress held up Obama's Supreme Court nominee. Its hard to get anything done in the last year of any office if the prior year went bad.

If it doesn't go bad, then what's the problem for voters?

Bottom line, there is a limited amount to time make changes in the House, if the changes are good the incumbent's will retain office. If the changes are bad, the incumbent's will be out and the House will have some of the power back.

The Senate also has some seats up every 2 years, so if things go bad the Democrats could retain power in both the House and the Senate in the 2018 elections. If things don't go bad, there is no problem.

She knows. I applaud her remaining as a strong woman who is willing to speak out about the corrupt, evil regime now in Washington. As they round up immigrants and put them in camps (gee, where in history have we seen this?), roll back environmental, employment, protections, try their best to suppress the 1st Amendment and hide their crimes, it is only the real patriots of what this country should stand for that speak up. Their strong arm tactics of trying to hurt anyone who criticizes this uninformed, sociopath in the White House, should not be acceptable to anyone. The fact that his supporters are willing to overlook his behavior because the stock market is up is a sad comment on their character.

So, yes, Hillary, Elizabeth, Caroline Kennedy, all strong women and men, speak up. We cannot allow this to become the norm and acceptable.

My post was about Hillary being a poor loser, not about Trump.

Hillary is old news, if the Dems want to win they need to latch on to someone other than her. Her time has come and gone, but unfortunately it looks like she wants to try to stay relevant enough so she can get a rematch with Trump. Bad move if the Dems go for it!!!!!!

If she doesn't see what she did wrong the last election, she will lose again.

If she does win, she will become the new Trump. The person people love to hate and bash.

Either way the Dems lose. Only way they win is to find another front runner, but it already seems they are slighting Bernie, again. The person who would have beaten Trump last time, if the Democratic committee had played fair.

Right now, it looks to me that the Dems are latching on to the old losing ways instead of embracing the new winning ways.

Hillary is a poor loser? Why? Because she has the audacity to not crawl under and rock and is contributing to the resistance? Mien trumpf likes painting her as the enemy all the while destroying America. Ah, yes, threatening that the uppity woman doesn't know her place.....

She's not running. I see a Joe Kennedy/Biden ticket as promising. I don't see Hillary making moves to run. She is contributing to the dialogue as any intelligent, vital professional. Not as a bid to the White House. People like to pile onto Hillary when mien trumf shows how corrupt and downright evil he is. It is a deflection so his naive base shake their heads and chant "lock her up" all the while being conned by what is in front of them. Hillary has a place on the world stage and her input is welcomed. I know the haters want her to crawl under a rock never to be heard again. Sorry, that isn't likely to happen.

Well in New York, we have the recent primary election that saw incumbent Crowley upset by first time candidate Ocasio-Cortez. When she was interviewed by NPR, I thought she was awfully inexperienced. Listen for yourself -- I've heard high school schoolers present themselves better.

Anyway, it seems like the socialists are starting to change things.

The So-Called Muslim Ban

Postby SquarePeg » Sun Jul 01, 2018 5:35 am

First, it is terrible that there may be US citizens who are detained from returning to USA from certain Muslim countries. I do not condone that.

But this is about the depiction that Trump's travel ban is designed to keep out travelers who are Muslim.

1. Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait are Muslim countries. Travel is permitted into the USA from these countries.
2. North Korea and Venezuela are not Muslim countries, yet they are included in the travel ban.

So I don't understand why people are so "wrapped around the axle" about this issue. If anyone here has an issue with it, please read this:

...Muslim Ban

Postby SquarePeg » Sun Jul 01, 2018 5:51 am

For example, this morning's Hartford Courant, has a picture on the front page of a man who appears to be from the Middle East. He stands indoors with his head directly in front of a lit lamp so that it appears as if he is a holy man with a yellow-golden halo. The caption claims that he and his son (who are US citizens) are stuck in Egypt as a direct result of the travel ban. The article itself doesn't say anything about these individuals being trapped in Egypt. It says only that he's afraid that his Yemen wife won't be allowed to renew her Visa. Check it out -- it's irresponsible.
