Instead, another thing that allows the body to absorb Thing1 might be lacking, so the short term approach might be to take Thing2. Long term, though, is to eat a diet of whole, unprocessed, unrefined foods grown or raised on nutrient-rich and "clean" land.
BTW, I've started to make my own sauerkraut.
